Week 10: Presentation Tools!

This week, we were looking at presentation tools. I have used Prezi and Canva, so that left me with Smore, Emaze, and Haiku Deck.

I chose to use Emaze for my presentation. I felt this was more user friendly and I didn’t have to put my credit card information in :). I also liked that they had so many templates to chose from, whether it is a photo album, website, or presentation. I liked all the options they had for images to insert and that you can make the font 3D! I also like that you can view others’ templates. It reminded me a lot of Prezi but fancier! The last thing I liked was the animation. On the slide template, it came with those letters that shake when you roll your mouse over (see slide two). “Work animation into your slides for an added layer of emotional impact” (Reynolds, 2014, p. 255). Although it doesn’t necessarily have an emotional impact here, it makes the slide fun.

I chose to make my three slides about one of my favorite lessons to teach. I didn’t go into a lot of detail on these three slides because Reynolds says, “Avoid the death by Power-Point approach and don’t clutter your slides…” (2014, p. 255). I did need to make the second slide a little detailed so the viewer knew what they would need. If I had a fourth slide, I would have attached a hyperlink or QR code with the actual lesson. Putting the actual lesson on the slides (according to Reynolds) would be too much.

  1. I never really thought about transitions before because I typically use Powerpoint and Google Slides. But after reading your comment, I realized that most of these presentation sites don’t include an option for transitions- except Emaze. I like how you added transitions to give it some extra pizazz.

  2. I am jealous you got Emaze to work, because that tool looked awesome! The website kept crashing for me. Your presentation looks great! I also chose to not put a whole lot of information on my slides, so as not to bore the viewers. I like your ideas about a QR code.

  3. I couldn’t get Emaze to work for me either. It kept asking for access to my information, which I didn’t like, but I allowed and then it kept freezing. I do like your presentation though. I have always been interested in Anne Frank. I also like the animations on your presentation. Good work!

  4. I am so glad to see that you used a tool that you haven’t used before. Looks like you handled it okay. The presentation was easy to follow and I found it very interesting and informative even with just three slides. Good Job!

  5. Well, that WAS fun! I liked eMaze better than Prezi too. I think Prezi is not as flashy. I liked your transitions too! I chose this one as my 2nd favorite only because the way it works i what I call non-linear” and I would need more time to play and practice with it before I was truly comfortable.

  6. Your presentation looks great, Great use of transitions. I ended up using Haiku deck for my slides because it was more user friendly to me. After looking at your presentation, i am going to give Emaze another chance and play around with it.
